Founded more than 60 years ago in Hamburg Germany by A. Wuttke, WELLENSTEYN originated as a producer of deep-submerge mechanical instruments, designed to withstand the rigors oft he North Sea.
Wuttke also realized that his customers, technicians and dockhands in the shipyards of Germany were in constant need of sturdy water resistant work-wear. He developed a heavy, seaworthy sailcloth that could be use to provide superior durability for those exposed to some oft he toughest elements.
